SIEB & MEYER on the trade fair SPS 2022
Press releasesNew Products in the SD4x Frequency Converter Series
On the SPS trade fair 2022, November 8 to 10 in Nuremberg, SIEB & MEYER AG will present the newest devices of the SD4x series: SD4S, SD4M and the brand new SD4B. The innovative frequency converters for high-speed applications offer numerous advantages for customers, for example, optimized performance, higher speeds and lower motor heating without additional sine-wave filters.
SD4B by SIEB & MEYER is successor of SD2B plus: the exceptionally compact device is designed as high-dynamic servo amplifier for the operation of rotary and linear low-voltage servo motors but it is also suited to the optimized operation of high-speed low-voltage synchronous and asynchronous motors.
In the high-speed range, SD4B allows a sensor-based operation of motors with superimposed synchronization function using 24 V synchronization signals. Therefore, the device can operate several high-speed motors with angular synchronism via master/slave connection, which is useful, for example, in the field of optical system applications. The robust speed control can also cope with high mass inertia ratios of up to 1:100 between motor and tool.
SD4S is available in numerous sizes of the 230 V class and the 400 V class. Together these devices cover the power range of the SD2S series (1.4...55 kVA) and even extend it downwards and upwards (0.8...66 kVA). SIEB & MEYER uses the available processor performance for new control functions. As a result, SD4x devices can optimally operate synchronous motors with magnets embedded in the rotor, so-called interior permanent magnet motors (IPM). The reluctance torque generated by these motors is optimized in real-time depending on the operating point.
The three-level converters of the series SD4M can fully show their advantages in the field of turbo compressors and turbo blowers, for example. On the one hand, these systems benefit from the low motor heating combined with the high system efficiency. At a 24/7 full-load operation, the latter causes noticeable energy savings and short return on investment times. On the other hand, the overall system can be produced at lower costs and with a more compact construction volume because motor chokes and sine-wave filters are not necessary. SD4M also offers the function for controlling IPM motors.
